Celebrating Local Talent: A Cozy Evening with Collingwood's Newest Author Benjamin Rempel

We recently had the pleasure of hosting an unforgettable evening at Press Market to celebrate the debut novel of Collingwood’s own Benjamin Rempel. The event, held in honour of the release of "Infect," brought together a vibrant mix of local literary enthusiasts and community members for a night of storytelling, discussion, and celebration.

“Gritty and sophisticated... Rempel delivers a chilling debut that will have readers clawing for more.” —Blank Spaces

Nearing the end of a harsh winter, estranged half-brothers, Andrew and Xavier, flee into the dark woods isolating their town. Panicked, the young men seek refuge from a growing horde of feral townsfolk tracking them with unbridled violence.

Threatened by dwindling food supplies, rising tensions, and a troubled group of survivors, the brothers are thrust into bloody conflicts while desperately searching for their parents.

As their community unravels, Andrew and Xavier must uncover the terrifying truth about a virus ravaging their town if they are to survive one more night from the things that hunt them.

Hailed as “violent, mysterious, and powerfully empathetic,” INFECT explores human behaviour where nothing is sacred and survival is the highest priority.

“Reminiscent of M. Night Shyamalan with plenty of twists and tension...Unravelling this can of worms was way more fun than I was ready for.” — J. T. Maxwell, author of Red Brick Road

“A wild, fast-paced thriller... A little gore and a lot of fun.” — Jillian Morris, writer & poet laureate

“Exciting and suspenseful... grabs the reader from the first page and never lets go.” — Janet Wilkinson, writer & playwright

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and made this event a success. The celebration of "Infect" was not just about launching a book; it was about coming together as a community to support and uplift one of our own.

For those who missed the event, copies of "Infect" are still available at Press Market and local bookstores. We encourage everyone to dive into this gripping novel and experience the talent of Benjamin Rempel.

Stay tuned for more events and celebrations at Press Market. We look forward to continuing to support local talent and provide a space for our community to gather and celebrate. Thank you for being a part of this memorable evening!
